Getting started

What is Loom?

Loom is a mood board app for iPhone and iPad. You can import photos from your camera roll, add freehand scribbles and text, arrange everything on a 3000×3000 canvas, and export or share your boards however you like.

It requires iOS 17 or later.

How do I create my first board?

Tap the + button on the home screen to create a new board. Give it a name, pick a background colour, and optionally set a cover image. Your blank canvas is ready in moments — start adding photos, text, or scribbles straight away.

How many boards can I create?

Free accounts include a set number of boards to get you started. You can expand your capacity at any time by purchasing additional boards directly inside the app — available in packs of 1 or 5. An active subscription also includes unlimited board capacity.

☁️

iCloud & sync

How does iCloud sync work?

Loom uses iCloud to keep your boards in sync across all your devices automatically — no setup required. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID and iCloud is enabled, your boards will appear on every device running Loom.

My boards aren't syncing — what should I do?

Start by checking that iCloud Drive is enabled on your device: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive. Also make sure Loom is allowed to use iCloud under Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud.

If sync still seems stuck, try closing and reopening the app. Boards will re-sync once a connection is established. If the issue persists, email us and we'll take a look.

I deleted a board — can I recover it?

Deleted boards are not currently recoverable from within the app. If you have iCloud Drive turned on, you may be able to recover recently deleted files via iCloud.com → iCloud Drive → Recently Deleted on a browser.

Opening .loomboard files

Someone sent me a .loomboard file. How do I open it?

Find the .loomboard file — in Files, Messages, Mail, or AirDrop — and tap it to select it. Then tap the Share button (the box with the arrow pointing up) and choose Loom from the row of app icons.

Loom will open automatically and the board will import right away. Full step-by-step guide: How to open a Loomboard.

Loom doesn't appear in the share sheet.

Make sure Loom is installed on your device. If it is, try scrolling the app icon row in the share sheet — Loom may be further along. You can also tap More at the end of the row to find it.

If it's still not showing, try restarting your device and then opening the share sheet again.

Are .loomboard files safe to open?

Yes. Every .loomboard file carries a cryptographic signature from its creator. Loom verifies this automatically on import, so you can always be confident the file hasn't been tampered with.

AI Arrange

What is AI Arrange?

AI Arrange analyses everything on your board and automatically places it into a cohesive layout. You choose a style — grids, scattered, panoramic bands, and more — preview the result, then accept or discard. No commitment until you're happy.

Why is AI Arrange greyed out or limited?

AI Arrange previews are tracked on a weekly quota. Free accounts include a limited number of previews per week. Subscribing to Loom unlocks a significantly higher quota so you can arrange to your heart's content.

Your quota resets each week. If you've used yours up, it will refresh automatically.

I accepted an arrangement I don't like. Can I undo it?

Yes — use the standard undo gesture (shake to undo or the undo button in the toolbar) immediately after accepting an arrangement to revert your board to how it was before.

💳

Purchases & subscription

What does a Loom subscription include?

A monthly subscription gives you:

Unlimited board capacity — no cap on how many boards you can have
More AI Arrange previews — a significantly higher weekly quota
Early access to new editing tools — try upcoming features before anyone else

Subscriptions are billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time through your Apple ID settings.

How do I buy extra boards without subscribing?

You can purchase additional board capacity as a one-time in-app purchase. Boards are available in packs of 1 or 5. These are consumable purchases — once used, the boards are added to your capacity permanently.

Look for the option in the app when you reach your board limit, or find it in Settings.

How do I restore my purchases?

Open Loom, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Your subscription and any previous board purchases will be restored as long as you're signed into the same Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, not within Loom directly. To cancel, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, find Loom, and tap Cancel Subscription.

You'll continue to have access until the end of the current billing period.

Performance & troubleshooting

The app is running slowly or feels laggy.

Try closing Loom fully and reopening it. If your board contains a very large number of high-resolution photos, performance can dip — especially on older devices.

Make sure your device is running iOS 17 or later, as earlier versions are not supported. If slowness persists, email us with your device model and iOS version and we'll investigate.

Loom crashed or closed unexpectedly.

We're sorry about that. Please restart the app — your boards are saved automatically, so you shouldn't lose any work. If the crash happens consistently, email us at hello@my-loomboard.com with a description of what you were doing and your device model. It helps us fix things faster.

Deleting your account & data

You can delete your account and all associated data directly inside Loom — go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your boards, preferences, and any data we hold for you.

If you'd prefer to make the request by email, write to us at hello@my-loomboard.com with the subject line "Data deletion request" and we'll take care of it within 30 days. For more detail on what data we collect, see our Privacy Policy.
